USA's foreign trade with Indonesia, exports to Indonesia and imports from Indonesia in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Indonesia's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in February 2021 represented a share of 0.7 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.6% and 0.8% of imports. In February Indonesia was USA's 22. largest foreign trade partner. $2.3 billion worth of trade was 0.4 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Indonesia was $861 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Indonesia decreased by 3.0 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.6 billion in February 2021. Major product categories of imports from Indonesia were Sitc851 (footwear), representing 8.2 percent of imports, Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.) 7.3 % and Sitc821 (furniture and parts thereof; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings) 6.5 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Indonesia were 5.9 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $743 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), which represented a share of 17.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)) 16.5 % and Sitc081 (feeding stuff for animals (not including unmilled cereals)) 8.0 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February trade in goods with Indonesia has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-February, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $4.9 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 1.5 percent. During January-February the value of imports was $3.4 billion. The export value was $1.5 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - February in 2020, the value of imports during this period decreased by 4.1 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc851 (footwear), worth $256 million. In export the largest value had Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), worth being $323 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 16.9 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.9 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $2.2 billion.
