USA's foreign trade with Thailand, exports to Thailand and imports from Thailand in Juli 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli 2020 Thailand represented 1.3 per cent of USA's foreign trade in goods, 0.8 % of USA's exports and 1.5 % of imports. In Juli Thailand was USA's 19. largest foreign trade partner. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $3.9 billion was 2.0 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. In Juli the trade balance with Thailand was $2.2 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Thailand was 6.8 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.1 billion. Major product categories of imports from Thailand were Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.), representing 18.0 percent of imports, Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 12.2 % and Sitc625 (rubber tyres, interchangeable tyre treads, tyre flaps and inner tubes for wheels of all kinds) 6.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Thailand declined by 12.0 per cent compared to in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $869 million in Juli 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 11.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 7.1 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 7.1 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2020

During January-Juli, the value of goods between the two countries rose to $27.4 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4.2 percent. During January-Juli the value of imports was $20.6 billion. The export value was $6.8 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of imports during this period increased by 9.7 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.), worth $3.6 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth being $930 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 9.5 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $13.8 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $11.3 billion.
