USA's foreign trade with Pakistan, exports to Pakistan and imports from Pakistan in November 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Pakistan was USA's 47. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 3 places. Amounting trade to worth of $665 million was 1.7 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Pakistan was $107 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Pakistan was 26.2 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $386 million. Major product categories of imports from Pakistan were Sitc658 (made-up articles, wholly or chiefly of textile materials, n.e.s.), representing 32.4 percent of imports, Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.) 12.4 % and Sitc652 (cotton fabrics, woven (not including narrow or special fabrics)) 6.8 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Pakistan declined by 19.9 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $279 million in November 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc263 (cotton), which represented a share of 24.6 per cent of total exports, Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)) 19.1 % and Sitc282 (ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steel) 9.2 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, the value of goods between the two countries rose to $6.0 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 0.3 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $3.5 billion. The export value was $2.5 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - November in 2019, the value of imports during this period decreased by 2.9 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc658 (made-up articles, wholly or chiefly of textile materials, n.e.s.), worth $1.1 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc263 (cotton), worth being $732 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 5.1 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.0 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $1.2 billion.
