USA's foreign trade with Bahrain, exports to Bahrain and imports from Bahrain in August 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In August Bahrain was USA's 81. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 8 places. $119 million worth of trade was 31.4 per cent lower than in August of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Bahrain was $58 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Bahrain decreased strongly, by 59.8 per cent compared to in August of the previous year. The import amounted to $31 million in August 2020. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc684 (aluminium) representing a share of 51.2 per cent. Other major product categories of imports were Sitc658 (made-up articles, wholly or chiefly of textile materials, n.e.s.), 12.2 percent of imports, Sitc582 (plates, sheets, film, foil and strip, of plastics) 9.5 % and Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 9.4 % of imports.

The value of exports to Bahrain declined by 9.1 per cent compared to in August of the previous year, thus amounting to $89 million in August 2020.

Development during January-August 2020

During January-August, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-38.4 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $976 million. During January-August the value of imports was $460 million. The export value was $516 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was -37.8 % and in the value of exports -38.9 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc684 (aluminium), worth $248 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $76 million. The trade balance between USA and Bahrainin between January and August was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $55 million.
