USA's foreign trade with Qatar, exports to Qatar and imports from Qatar in November 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Qatar was USA's 62. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 2 places. $277 million worth of trade was 67.4 per cent lower than in November of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Qatar was $91 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Qatar was 22.4 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $93 million. Major product categories of imports from Qatar were Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)), representing 36.1 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 35.6 % and Sitc684 (aluminium) 21.3 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Qatar declined considerably,by 76.2 per cent, compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $184 million in November 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 18.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 7.5 % and Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 6.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-43.5 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $3.8 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $1.1 billion. The export value was $2.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was -33.6 % and in the value of exports -46.7 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $390 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $394 million. The trade balance between USA and Qatarin between January and November was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $1.6 billion.
