USA's foreign trade with Turkey, exports to Turkey and imports from Turkey in November 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Turkey was USA's 29. largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $1.7 billion was 1.8 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Turkey was $185 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Turkey was 3.0 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $931 million. Major product categories of imports from Turkey were Sitc659 (floor coverings, etc.), representing 9.3 percent of imports, Sitc661 (lime, cement, and fabricated construction materials (except glass and clay materials)) 5.8 % and Sitc897 (jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semiprecious materials, n.e.s.) 4.7 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Turkey were 0.2 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $746 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc282 (ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steel), which represented a share of 12.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 10.5 % and Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 8.9 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $19.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 1.6 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $10.0 billion. The export value was $9.3 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 2.3% and the value of exports by 0.8%. The largest value in imports was in Sitc659 (floor coverings, etc.), worth $806 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $2.4 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $705 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $554 million.
