USA's foreign trade with Bulgaria, exports to Bulgaria and imports from Bulgaria in February 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In February Bulgaria was USA's 90. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 6 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $93 million was 22.2 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Bulgaria was $58 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Bulgaria was 39.0 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $75 million. Major product categories of imports from Bulgaria were Sitc874 (measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.), representing 8.7 percent of imports, Sitc121 (tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse) 6.4 % and Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)) 6.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Bulgaria declined by 19.5 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $18 million in February 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc721 (agricultural machinery (excluding tractors) and parts thereof), which represented a share of 11.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 8.3 % and Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 8.2 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February 2021, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $173 million, a decrease of 0.7 %. During January-February the value of imports was $138 million. The export value was $35 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 4.5 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc874 (measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.), worth $12 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $3.3 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 16.8 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $103 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $89 million.
