USA's foreign trade with Kazakhstan, exports to Kazakhstan and imports from Kazakhstan in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In February Kazakhstan was USA's 87. largest foreign trade partner. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $108 million was 10.7 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Kazakhstan was $54 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Kazakhstan was 41.2 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $81 million. Major product categories of imports from Kazakhstan were Sitc897 (jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semiprecious materials, n.e.s.), representing 42.1 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 25.8 % and Sitc671 (pig-iron, spiegeleisen, sponge iron, iron or steel granules and powders and ferro-alloys) 18.5 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Kazakhstan declined by 32.9 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $27 million in February 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.), which represented a share of 16.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc012 (other meat and edible meat offal, fresh, chilled or frozen (except meat and meat offal unfit or unsuitable for human consumption)) 11.9 % and Sitc713 (internal combustion piston engines and parts thereof, n.e.s.) 6.5 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

The trade in goods between January and February of 2021 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $221 million, down 19.5 %. During January-February the value of imports was $162 million. The export value was $58 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 0.4 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $64 million. In export the largest value had Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.), worth being $6.2 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 48.0 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $104 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $49 million.
