USA's foreign trade with Georgia, exports to Georgia and imports from Georgia in February 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In February Georgia was USA's 109. largest foreign trade partner. Most of the the value of trade consists of USA's exports to Georgia. $40 million worth of trade was 28.5 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Georgia was $24 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Georgia was 351.8 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $7.7 million. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc511 (hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives) representing a share of 72.2 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc671 (pig-iron, spiegeleisen, sponge iron, iron or steel granules and powders and ferro-alloys), corresponding to the share of 6.1 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Georgia amounted to more than a third lower relative to the previous year's February, thus amounting to $32 million in February 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 66.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc784 (parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of groups 722, 781, 782 and 783) 9.5 % and Sitc012 (other meat and edible meat offal, fresh, chilled or frozen (except meat and meat offal unfit or unsuitable for human consumption)) 5.7 % of the exports.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was -61.9 % and in the value of exports -30.2 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc511 (hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives), worth $5.6 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $40 million. The trade balance between USA and Georgian between January and February was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $55 million.
