USA's foreign trade with Poland, exports to Poland and imports from Poland in August 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In August Poland was USA's 37. largest foreign trade partner. $1.1 billion worth of trade was 0.7 per cent lower than in August of the previous year. In August the trade balance with Poland was $290 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Poland was 6.9 per cent higher than in August of the previous year, thus amounting to $716 million. Major product categories of imports from Poland were Sitc681 (silver, platinum and other metals of the platinum group), representing 12.5 percent of imports, Sitc714 (engines and motors, non-electric (other than those of groups 712, 713 and 718); parts, n.e.s., of these engines and motors) 6.0 % and Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind) 5.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Poland declined by 11.3 per cent compared to in August of the previous year, thus amounting to $426 million in August 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 28.3 per cent of total exports, Sitc891 (arms and ammunition) 11.9 % and Sitc778 (electrical machinery and apparatus, n.e.s.) 4.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-August 2020

The trade in goods between January and August of 2020 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $9.1 billion, down 5.2 %. During January-August the value of imports was $5.8 billion. The export value was $3.3 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of imports during this period increased by 2.6 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.), worth $595 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $691 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 16.1 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-August remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $2.4 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $1.6 billion.
