USA's foreign trade with Lithuania, exports to Lithuania and imports from Lithuania in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In February Lithuania was USA's 69. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 5 places. Amounting trade to worth of $234 million was 69.0 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Lithuania was $16 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Lithuania was 82.7 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $125 million. Major product categories of imports from Lithuania were Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.), representing 29.1 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 17.6 % and Sitc821 (furniture and parts thereof; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings) 11.1 % of the imports.

Exports to Lithuania grew strongly over the previous year's February. The value of exports was $109 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), which represented a share of 38.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 22.1 % and Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 6.0 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February, trade in goods with Lithuania has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 65.2821531702519 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $518 million. During January-February the value of imports was $341 million. The export value was $177 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 97.2% and the value of exports by 25.9%. The largest value in imports was in Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.), worth $141 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $52 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $165 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $33 million.
