USA's foreign trade with Lithuania, exports to Lithuania and imports from Lithuania in November 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Lithuania was USA's 67. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 3 places. Amounting trade to worth of $230 million was 2.3 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Lithuania was $45 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Lithuania decreased by 5.7 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $138 million in November 2020. Major product categories of imports from Lithuania were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 22.1 percent of imports, Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.) 20.7 % and Sitc821 (furniture and parts thereof; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings) 9.7 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Lithuania were 17.3 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $92 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), which represented a share of 27.1 per cent of total exports, Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 23.1 % and Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen) 5.0 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $2.0 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4.1 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $1.1 billion. The export value was $869 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 5.8% and the value of exports by 2.0%. The largest value in imports was in Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.), worth $212 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $268 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $217 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $173 million.
