USA's foreign trade with Estonia, exports to Estonia and imports from Estonia in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In February Estonia was USA's 86. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 15 places. Amounting trade to worth of $109 million was 6.7 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Estonia was $50 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Estonia was 15.2 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $79 million. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) representing a share of 51.1 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc874 (measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.), corresponding to the share of 11.7 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Estonia declined by 10.9 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $29 million in February 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc874 (measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.), which represented a share of 19.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried) 16.8 % and Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 9.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February, trade in goods with Estonia has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 64.6544726556313 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $318 million. During January-February the value of imports was $264 million. The export value was $54 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 98.1 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), worth $181 million. In export the largest value had Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried), worth being $7.8 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 9.9 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $210 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $73 million.
