USA's foreign trade with Belgium, exports to Belgium and imports from Belgium in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Belgium's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in February 2021 represented a share of 1.5 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 2.3% and 0.9% of imports. In February Belgium was USA's 18. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 2 places. $4.7 billion worth of trade was 2.8 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Belgium was $1.0 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Belgium was 0.1 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.8 billion. Major product categories of imports from Belgium were Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), representing 30.6 percent of imports, Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 11.1 % and Sitc681 (silver, platinum and other metals of the platinum group) 10.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Belgium declined by 4.6 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.8 billion in February 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 19.1 per cent of total exports, Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 6.6 % and Sitc872 (instruments and appliances, n.e.s., for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary purposes) 6.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February 2021, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $8.8 billion, a decrease of 1.4 %. During January-February the value of imports was $3.5 billion. The export value was $5.3 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 4.5 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth $1.1 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $992 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 5.0 %. The trade balance between USA and Belgiumin between January and February was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $1.8 billion.
