USA's foreign trade with Ireland, exports to Ireland and imports from Ireland in November 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November 2020 Ireland represented 1.8 per cent of USA's foreign trade in goods, 0.7 % of USA's exports and 2.5 % of imports. In November Ireland was USA's 14. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 2 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $6.2 billion was 4.5 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Ireland was $4.4 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Ireland was 4.0 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $5.3 billion. Major product categories of imports from Ireland were Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), representing 27.2 percent of imports, Sitc515 (organo-inorganic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids and their salts, and sulphonamides) 20.9 % and Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 19.6 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Ireland were 7.2 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $922 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), which represented a share of 21.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 16.5 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 6.1 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $68.1 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4.5 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $59.3 billion. The export value was $8.8 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 4.3% and the value of exports by 5.3%. The largest value in imports was in Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), worth $15.7 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth being $1.6 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $50.5 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $48.5 billion.
