USA's foreign trade with Sweden, exports to Sweden and imports from Sweden in Juli 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli 2020 Sweden represented 0.5 per cent of USA's foreign trade in goods, 0.4 % of USA's exports and 0.6 % of imports. In Juli Sweden was USA's 30. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 3 places. Amounting trade to worth of $1.7 billion was 20.7 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. In Juli the trade balance with Sweden was $741 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Sweden was 13.8 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.2 billion. Major product categories of imports from Sweden were Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), representing 17.9 percent of imports, Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 17.0 % and Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 4.7 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Sweden were 43.5 percent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $456 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), which represented a share of 19.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 12.3 % and Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 8.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2020

During January-Juli, the value of goods between the two countries rose to $9.9 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 2.9 percent. During January-Juli the value of imports was $7.1 billion. The export value was $2.8 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - Juli in 2019, the value of imports during this period decreased by 1.4 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth $1.1 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth being $381 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 15.7 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $4.3 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $4.8 billion.
