USA's foreign trade with Argentina, exports to Argentina and imports from Argentina in Juli 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Argentina was USA's 40. largest foreign trade partner. $891 million worth of trade was 29.5 per cent lower than in Juli of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Argentina was $112 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Argentina decreased by 22.6 per cent compared to in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $390 million in Juli 2020. Major product categories of imports from Argentina were Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), representing 28.5 percent of imports, Sitc971 (gold,non-monetary) 12.3 % and Sitc036 (crustaceans, molluscs and aquatic invertebrates, whether in shell or not, fresh (live or dead), chilled, frozen, dried, salted or in brine; crustaceans, in shell, cooked by steaming or boiling in water, whether or not chilled, frozen, dried, salted o) 6.5 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Argentina amounted to more than a third lower relative to the previous year's Juli, thus amounting to $501 million in Juli 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 10.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 8.4 % and Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 4.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2020

During January-Juli, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-29.6 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $5.7 billion. During January-Juli the value of imports was $2.3 billion. The export value was $3.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was -22.7 % and in the value of exports -33.7 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $222 million. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $433 million. The trade balance between USA and Argentinan between January and Juli was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $1.1 billion.
