USA's foreign trade with Chile, exports to Chile and imports from Chile in November 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Chile's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in November 2020 represented a share of 0.5 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.8% and 0.4% of imports. In November Chile was USA's 28. largest foreign trade partner. $1.8 billion worth of trade was 14.9 per cent lower than in November of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Chile was $237 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Chile was 29.6 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $765 million. Major product categories of imports from Chile were Sitc682 (copper), representing 32.6 percent of imports, Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen) 19.8 % and Sitc634 (veneers, plywood, particle board, and other wood, worked, n.e.s.) 6.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Chile declined by 32.5 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.0 billion in November 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 20.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 7.4 % and Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 5.7 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

The trade in goods between January and November of 2020 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $20.8 billion, down 13.2 %. During January-November the value of imports was $9.2 billion. The export value was $11.6 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of imports decreased by -3.4% and the value of exports by -19.7 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc682 (copper), worth $2.2 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $2.6 billion. The trade balance between USA and Chilen between January and November was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $2.3 billion.
