USA's foreign trade with Chile, exports to Chile and imports from Chile in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Chile's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in February 2021 represented a share of 0.7 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 1.0% and 0.6% of imports. In February Chile was USA's 24. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 3 places. Amounting trade to worth of $2.3 billion was 6.7 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Chile was $67 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Chile was 31.0 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.1 billion. Major product categories of imports from Chile were Sitc682 (copper), representing 30.7 percent of imports, Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried) 26.6 % and Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen) 16.1 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Chile declined by 9.2 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.2 billion in February 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 15.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 6.1 % and Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 4.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February trade in goods with Chile has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-February, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $4.4 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 2.1 percent. During January-February the value of imports was $2.0 billion. The export value was $2.5 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 8.5 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc682 (copper), worth $493 million. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $348 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 2.6 %. The trade balance between USA and Chilen between January and February was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $468 million.
