USA's foreign trade with Honduras, exports to Honduras and imports from Honduras in August 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In August Honduras was USA's 46. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 2 places. $714 million worth of trade was 19.2 per cent lower than in August of the previous year. In August the trade balance with Honduras was $31 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Honduras decreased by 9.8 per cent compared to in August of the previous year, thus amounting to $372 million in August 2020. Major product categories of imports from Honduras were Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.), representing 39.9 percent of imports, Sitc773 (equipment for distributing electricity, n.e.s.) 10.5 % and Sitc843 (men's or boys' coats, capes, jackets, suits, blazers, trousers, shorts, shirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)) 6.3 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Honduras declined by 27.4 per cent compared to in August of the previous year, thus amounting to $341 million in August 2020.

Development during January-August 2020

During January-August, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-27.8 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $5.0 billion. During January-August the value of imports was $2.4 billion. The export value was $2.6 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was -25.3 % and in the value of exports -29.9 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.), worth $798 million. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $459 million. The trade balance between USA and Hondurasin between January and August was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $150 million.
